Taste of The City

OBJECTIVE
Explore typographical ideas using material experiments and apply them to a television series, Cosmos, and create a set of posters and a motion graphic trailer.

APPROACH
After experimenting with countless different materials, I observed the appearance of letters in a convex lens. I found that the twisting and stretching of letters are like the rhythm of life—mysterious and unpredictable. These letters can change at any time, and are independent but relate to each other. In the process of constantly exploring their possibilities, I found a whole cosmos.

Taste of The City

OBJECTIVE

We got a poem in an unfamiliar language. We needed to explore the graphics, structure or text without knowing the meaning of the poem, then apply this element to a design.

APPROACH

I observed continuity and geometric patterns from the letterforms of the poem. I had an urban feeling from a series of explorations. So I used a variety of materials to present a continuous structure, and then I developed 3D structures that are both architectural and organic like a honeycomb, and they could be stretched. I created a brand of honey inspired by this structure and presented it on the logo and packaging design.
